Order No. 224.RMU

Cardboard kit for one of the most ingenious and sophisticated sundials ever invented: The Regiomontanus sundial measures true local time by sun elevation, unlike conventional elevation sundials on all latitudes between Oslo and Cairo. It was invented in the 15th century by Johannes Regiomontanus, the famous astronomer and mathematician from Königsberg in Lower Franconia. In addition, it also allows the sun’s rise and set times to be determined for any date and any place, and the perpendicular quadrant on the back makes it easy to determine the sun’s height (angle of distance above the horizon).
