Order no. 229.KOP

We are pleased to be able to present the Copernicus Planetarium, the world’s first mechanical planetary model as a cardboard kit.

It shows the movements of the inner planets Mercury and Venus as well as the Moon and Earth, whereby the latter rotates around its oblique and always identically aligned axis. One turn of the crank at the gear made of rubber belts and grooved wheels corresponds to the course of one week. In doing so, it causes six different, simultaneous movements, which are in approximate proportion to the actual times of rotation. Many celestial processes can thus be explained from the Copernican (heliocentric) point of view, e.g. the wandering of the sun through the zodiac or the conjunctions of Mercury and Venus with each other and with the sun.

The Sun with bright LED lighting shows in the dark room not only the changing of the seasons, but also the formation of the phases of the moon, the eclipses and the crescent phases of Venus.
