Order no. 438.DRS
A steam engine as a cardboard construction kit, driven by properly boiling steam – can that work? Oh yes, and how! See for yourself: This model is not only beautiful to look at, it also works magnificently.
The boiler made of corrosion-resistant aluminium has a magnetic pressure relief valve, the fire from 5 tea lights is shielded by a galvanised wire mesh and the steam is led through a closed hose and foil system and released into the open air via a chimney.
In order to keep the Ferris wheel moving by the rather modest power of the AstroMedia steam engine, it is designed to be particularly smooth-running and has a strong reduction ratio of 15:1, i.e. the impeller that turns the Ferris wheel has a diameter 15 times larger than the driving wheel that is attached to the crankshaft of the steam engine.
